The Sunburst chart is a hierarchical chart. Each level in the hierarchy is displayed as a separate ring with the inner ring representing the data at the top of the hierarchy. The sunburst chart shows how inner rings are broken down into outer rings. This chart type is new in Excel 2016. So for example in the example below we have an inner ring showing the proportion of sales achieved by two different stores – Brighton and Hull. The second ring breaks down the sales into product type and then the outer ring breaks down each product type into product category.
